I am the leading back pain expert in Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme, with over 25 years of clinical experience treating thousands of patients with back pain, helping them recover to lead happier, healthier lives.
A little about my history: I was born in 1964 to Irish parents and lived in Stoke-on-Trent until I went to university. Initially, I studied geology and chemistry, and after a year of working at Alton Towers to raise some money to further my studies, I decided to switch career paths and enrolled at a chiropractic college.
I qualified in 1992 and worked in several clinics in Sheffield, Leeds, and Manchester before returning to Newcastle-under-Lyme in 1998, where I opened my first clinic. It’s now the
second longest-running chiropractic practice in the area. Twelve years ago, we acquired the longest-running clinic in the area, located in Stoke, which has been around for 40 years. With both practices (one in Newcastle and one in Stoke) we treat a wide range of conditions, from back pain to migraines and headaches.
The reason I became a chiropractor goes back to my younger years. I was really into fitness and regularly went to the gym. One day, I had the chance to go on a trip where we met Mr. Olympia, Franco Columbu, who was not only a world-renowned bodybuilder but also Arnold Schwarzenegger’s best friend. That experience sparked my interest in the human body and its mechanics.
Years later, after completing a degree in geology and chemistry, I found myself uninterested in continuing down that path. I wanted a career that aligned more with my personal interests. I was particularly drawn to anatomy and physiology, and I always knew I wanted to run my own business. While exploring career options, I came across a mention of chiropractic in a career advisory booklet. I knew exactly what chiropractic was, and it clicked with me – this was the opportunity I’d been searching for. So, I reached out for more information and ultimately decided to pursue chiropractic training, combining my passion for the body with my desire to help others.
